1.Spirituality is different from Religion. Spirituality is the journey of self whereas religion is politics.

Now we are going to discuss about history or politics.

2.All Sramanic religions are imports. Imported from East- present day Bihar. It is foolish to believe they were religions of Tamils.

3.Kalabras stormed into Tamil countries through a revolt, killed Tamil Kings, prisioned Princess, abandoned or converted Temples.

4.They imposed Sramanic religions. There were many, not only Jainism and Aseevagam.Over 84, only six were patronised by the then kings.

5.It is a fashion to change religions at that like shirts.

Bindusara (the Father) patronised Aseevagam. Ashoka (the Son) Patronised Buddhism. Samprati(the descendant)practised Jainism.

Why?- the Guru's of their mother's followed that Sramanic religion.

Court religion become the religion of masses. If we extend the logic of Sramanics now, Jains, Buddhists, Muslims, Christians of India are stuck at 8th, 10th, 13th,18th centuries respectively.

6.Azhwars (12) and Nayanmars (63), patronised by Pallavas, revived Sri Vaishnavism and Shaivism and uprooted Sramanic religioins from our land whereas North and SriLanka were stuck.

7.Rituals followed in Shaivism and Sri Vaishnavism (not Vaishnavism practiced in North) are brain child of Tamil Azhwars and Tamil Nayanmars. In fact Adi Sankara, Ramanujar and Mathvar took the southern religions to the Buddhist North India during imperial Chozhas regime. Religion is the tool to show your political dominance.

8.Murugan Worship rituals are standardised by Arunagirinathar in 15th century and hence Kaumaram is also a Tamil Religion. It has been taken to South East Asian Nations from Tamil Countries.

9.Rituals are for common man to take him in spirituality without any effort.

Annexure: Revival of Ayyanar:

There are three revivals of Ayyanars, Karuppasamy, Pechchiamman etc…in history.

1.Earlier era saw these temples, outside the villages, where sacrifices happened- including human sacrifices.

2.During Sramanic era, sacrifices are banned and Jain Munis used to watch for 24 hours from nearby hilliock and they had their own beds.

3.Revival of these Ayyanars, Mariammans happened during 17th century by Thirumalai Naicker. He shifted the capital from Trichy to Madurai. In order to maintain religious harmony among various religions, he started Meenakshi Thirumkalyam (Shaivism) followed by Kallalagar (Sri Vaishnavism) Vaigai Chiththirai Festival alongwith worship of village God's. Read history- atleast school texts.

Siddha or Nath tradition is different. Do not confuse.

If you are spiritually inclined, follow any path with dedication, you will reach the goal. Religion is intertwined with politics. Why to twist the past?

Can Tamil people be considered as non-Hindus,as Tamils also have a few non-vedic gods, like Tamil Thai, Ayyanar, Muniyandi, etc.?

4.When Bharat was invaded and their culture is bombarded - the conservative hindus with rich Hindu Culture migrated as far as from Saurashtra and as near as Karnataka to peaceful Tamizh mandalam (thanks to Chera, Chola, Pandyas) It welcomed them and allowed them to grow with their identity in tact. It also welcomed the traders from Middle Easts. While rest of the Bharat was busy learning languages of invaders, few undergone forceful conversions - Tamizh Mandalam is busy constructing temples and encouraging its arts, music, dances. That is the reason why as on date, Southern films are technically much superior than the rest.
